Press Releases Flender Shows European Mettle on Future of Distribution Leading gearbox manufacturer Flender played a key role at the recent annual convention of the European Power Transmission Distributors' Association (EPTDA), held in Paris, which discussed the future of industrial distribution in Europe. A panel comprising Flender, Gates Hydraulics and two European distributors answered questions from a range of industry representatives on the theme of Distribution at the Crossroads. Concerns and interests included the consolidation and independence of distributors, multi-branding, how manufacturers and distributors would need to change to face the challenges of the coming years, and whether there would be a levelling out of prices across Europe.
Flender MD Nick Garthwaite described and answered questions on the Flender experience and was surprised at the huge level of interest shown: "We generally have excellent relationships with our distributors and have worked with many of them to instigate new ways of working to our mutual benefit. I guess everyone wants to learn and benefit from others' experiences." MORE... Around 200 people from all over Europe attended the convention, including several UK based manufacturers and distributors. Nick Garthwaite was subsequently appointed to the EPTDA council of manufacturers' representatives and will be attending their next meeting in February 2003 in Barcelona.
