Motox Unit Performs Well for Anglian Water
Flender Power Transmission has supplied a motox geared motor unit to Anglian Water for a sewage treatment works in Basildon.
The motox unit has been inserted into one of seven picket fence thickener tanks on the site. Four feature stirrers inside the tanks and three are fence thickeners with gantries. Flender’s Motox replaces an obsolete gearbox from another manufacturer and is part of ongoing improvements being made at the large site, which has served the Basildon area since the 1950’s.
The motox type FDF181 DF100 unit weighs around 1000 kgs and was coupled with a .37kW motor. Design studies were carried out by Flender prior to its installation to ensure its fitness for purpose, and Flender also installed the unit.
Anglian Water’s on site maintenance engineer Ian Reynolds described the Flender unit:A combination of good specification, price and customer service influenced our decision to select the Flender unit. We were able to design and specify it appropriately with minimal disruption on site during its installation. We’re very happy with its performance.
The unit is combined with a torque limiter between the two gearboxes for the fence thickener tank and is typically run at 0.06 rpm on a 24 hour a day basis.
