Editorial for Morris Cranes Article

Flender Power Transmission Ltd works closely with Morris Cranes to provide a comprehensive geared motor drive selection service for long and cross travel drives for cranes using in-house written computer software.

Great care is taken to ensure smooth acceleration and braking of the crane, during both maximum safe working load condition and normal working conditions. Acceleration and deceleration are kept well below the values at which skidding could occur and cable deflection of the crane, when loaded, is kept below 3 degrees. Special ambient temperature and special voltage and frequency conditions are catered for, as are wind conditions for outdoor cranes.

Flender supplies both two-speed (8/2 pole) and single speed options, for direct on line operation or for inverter control. Also covered from the UK are CSA/NRTL certified units suitable for operation in Canada/USA. The gearboxes supplied to Morris Cranes are Flender "Snuggler" shaft mounted helical units that mount directly on to the axle of the crane wheels.

The drive selection service is now being extended worldwide following FlenderÕs recent global supply agreement with Morris Cranes.
